In India the prejudice of inter caste inequity has long prevailed and led to political exploitation and perpetual reservation for the backward classes. Various other factors have harbored communal feelings and thus strengthened the internal dynamics of the communities leading to the formation of various informal institutions organized around castes known as caste networks.

These caste networks prevailing in the society provide a strong and invisible support to members of the community; it supplements for the insurances that the market has failed to provide to the under-privileged as well as facilitate growth by providing employment and encouraging entrepreneurship within the community.
